Three key components to The BiO2 Solution™ Process
- A diverse community of microalgae species that are cultivated and then dispersed throughout the wastewater lagoon to supply oxygen.
- Fine bubble diffusers create a vertical laminar flow pattern to ensure that the algae have maximum exposure to sunlight on the surface of the lagoon. The microalgae utilized by The BiO2 Solution™ system does not form a surface mat but rather disperses evenly within the lagoon, providing the necessary oxygen for bacteria to remove the incoming biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).
- Cost-effective Ammonia Removal Devices (ARDs) are employed in areas where cold weather decreases the efficiency of the microbial nitrogen to ammonia transfer process. The patented, submergible ARDs provide optimum conditions to enhance lagoon performance: large, aerated bio-film surface area, dark warm environment, and controlled air-nutrient mixing. ARDs promote growth of diverse microbial colonies which are able to more thoroughly consume a broad range of contaminants.
